Picnic that changed the course of history

Hi Everyone,
It was a picnic that changed the course of history; breaking up of the Iron Curtian 20 years ago!!

The first breach of the Iron Curtain which divided Communist Central and Eastern Europe from the West for over decades took place 20 years ago on 27 Jun 1987 just outside the Hungarian town of Sopron.

Please see detailed report on Yahoo Home page at this link. click me

This eventually led to the fall of the Berlin Wall on 11-12 Nov 1987. Please see report on these links
1. Fall of Berlin
2. Berlin

The Hungarians are very proud that they enabled the historic event "BREACHING OF THE IRON CURTAIN" to take place.

I had visited Hungary years ago on official business and Hungarian high officials presented me a piece of the Berlin Wall as a momento!!

Best wishes.
