Mandate 2009: Young voters excited, euphoric

Forgive the Youngistanis, the new, young and urbane voters, for not knowing Das Kapital or manifestos. They are a pampered lot, must be, but are also euphoric as well as excited to vote. It seems they know the power of an individual vote.

And among the 700-odd crores eligible voters in the Elections 2009, a significant number of voters are young boys and girls in the age group of 18 to 39. This Elections 2009 face a dearth of young political leaders apart from Rahul Gandhi, Milind Deora, Sachin Pilot, Varun Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi. And it looks like the new and young voters are left high and dry by the leaders of major parties.

Dynasty Politics a National Scourge
In the South Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi’s daughter Kanimozhi is an MP. Her half brothers M.K. Satlin and M.K. Azhagiri are in state politics while their cousin Kalanidhi Maran till recently was a DMK point-man in Delhi until their fallout couple of years ago. Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss, a medical graduate, is Union Health Minister and is the son of Pattali Makkal Katchi chief P.K. Ramadoss in Tamil Nadu.
All in the family: Dynasty politics is now a rage
