IESM: Chairman's Desk

Date: Friday, 24 April, 2009, 9:48 PM
Dear Colleagues,
News from the Uniform
After issuing the Notification for Lt Col to PB4 on 21 Apr 2009, today another Notification putting 33% Lt Gens into HAG+ grade has been issued. Next on the anvil are pension benefits for post 2005 PBOR pensioners.
Voting Choice?
Elections are an interesting time. Apart from the few intellectuals who espouse and pursue reformist goals, a normal citizen favours the ‘bijli sadak paani’ (BSP) issues. An average Indian, therefore, votes for fulfilment of his own needs, promised by some party or individual candidate. Voting is thus largely self-interest driven. The BSP of Ex Servicemen today is OROP. Safeguarding the interests of the PBOR, who constitute some 97% of ESM population, becomes our responsibility. Our bonds with the men do not have a limited shelf life. They still look at us as their leaders. We cannot be indifferent to their problems just because we have stepped out of uniform.
Best regards,
Lt Gen (Emeritus) Raj Kadyan, PVSM, AVSM, VSM
Chairman IESM
