IESM: Fast for Justice Rally- ninty fourth day

Date: Thursday, 19 March, 2009, 8:33 PM
Dear Colleagues,
The Jantar mantar venue remains under the charge of local team from Gurgaon.
Shri Advani’s Visit
As scheduled, Shri LK Advani visited Jantar Mantar today. The gathering of about 60-70 comprised mainly officers and families. Due to short notice, only a few PBOR could attend. Media was present in full force.
In introductory remarks, among other points, I mentioned that it was unfortunate that in the 94 days of our fast at Jantar Mantar, neither any political leader in power, nor any government official has had the time to talk to us about our problems.
Using a quote from our memorandum to the President submitted on 9 Mar 2009 - Inequity hurts more than inadequacy – Mr Advani empathised with our cause and expressed support for OROP. He asserted that money should be no consideration while giving dues of the Ex Servicemen.
He categorically stated that if his party came to power, they would be able to pursuade their allies (meaning NDA) and implement OROP.
In the end, on behalf of the ESM I thanked Mr Advani for his assurance of support to our demand of OROP.

Best regards,
Lt Gen (Emeritus) Raj Kadyan, PVSM, AVSM, VSM
Chairman IESM
